Ford Mustang (1999-2004) Service Manual: Generator - 4.6L 4V

Removal and Installation

1. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to Section.

2. Relieve the accessory drive belt tension and remove the belt from the generator pulley.

3. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section.

4. Disconnect the generator electrical connections.

  • Disconnect the electrical connector.
  • Position the cover aside, and remove the nut and battery positive cable.

Generator - 4.6L 4V

5. Remove the upper and lower generator bolts.

Generator - 4.6L 4V

6. Remove the generator by lifting up and pulling it forward.

7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
