The 4R70W has the following features:

  • Wide ratio gears

  • Torque converter clutch control
  • Line pressure controls

The transmission uses Ravigneaux-style double-pinion gearset with two bands, one one-way roller clutch, one mechanical diode and four friction clutches to produce four forward gears and Reverse.
